Project Work/Training for Students at SCL
IMPORTANT : Students are requested, not to send DD of Rs. 100 towards ID Card and Police
Verification unless their admission is confirmed by SCL in writing.
Eligibility & Number of Seats:
A. Students pursuing M.Sc./M.Tech or equivalent course preferably in Microelectronics, Electronics
or Semi Conductor Physics from the Government recognized institutes. The number of seats per
session shall be limited by the availability of Mentors and suitability/relevance of the Topic/
Project to SCL but however shall not exceed 5.
B. Children of SCL/ISRO/DOS employees pursuing B. E. / B. Tech. or equivalent course. The
number of seats per session shall be limited by the availability of Mentors.
Programme Fee: There is No Fee.
Admission Procedure for M.Sc./ M.Tech Students :
1. Forward a letter from the institute certifying the particulars of the student such as Enrolment No.,
Year of Admission in that Institute, Course being undertaken, Year / Semester of Study with a
specific recommendation to allow the student to undertake Project Work/Training at SCL. The
letter duly signed by Head of the Institute and Photocopy of the Marks Sheets from Plus 2
onwards and Student Resume indicating Projects already undertaken or areas of interest for
Academic pursuit shall form part of the above letter.
2. The above letter shall be forwarded by the Institute/ Student at least 30 days before the required
start date of the Project Work/ Training by the student to the following address:

3. A duly constituted Selection Committee shall screen the Applications received and short listed
students shall be called for interview by the Selection Committee. Based on the Committee
recommendations, Application Forms shall be given to the Students for submission.
4. The students shall also be required to submit Police Clearance Certificate from the Police
Authorities of the area where the student is /has been staying for the last one year to the fact
that no criminal proceedings are pending against the student.
5. The student shall also be required to submit a Demand Draft of Rs.100.00 drawn in favour of
Semiconductor Laboratory, Mohali, Punjab towards Application Processing and ID card cost.
6. Upon completion of the Application Form, confirmation alongwith instruction sheet shall be
issued to the student. Admission Procedure for B.Tech/ B.E. Students
Children of DOS/ISRO/SCL employees are only eligible for Project Work/ Training Programme at
SCL as per the following procedure :
1. Forward a letter from the institute certifying the particulars of the student such as Enrolment No.,
Year of Admission in that Institute, Course being undertaken, Year / Semester of Study with a
specific recommendation to allow the student to undertake Project Work/Training at SCL. The
letter duly signed by Head of the Institute and Photocopy of the Marks Sheets from Plus 2
onwards and Student Resume indicating Projects (if any) already undertaken or areas of interest
for Academic pursuit shall form part of the above letter.
2. The employees or their wards then can collect the Application Form from Training Development
Cell and submit back to Training Development cell after filling it up.
3. The students shall also be required to submit Police Clearance Certificate from the Police
Authorities of the area where the student is /has been staying for the last one year to the fact
that no criminal proceedings are pending against the student.
4. The student shall also be required to submit a Demand Draft of Rs.100.00 drawn in favour of
Semiconductor Laboratory, Mohali, Punjab towards Application Processing and ID card cost.
5. Upon receipt of the above forms duly filled and signed by the Mentor and the concerned HoD,
cost of ID card and Police Clearance Certificate / Proof of having applied for the Police
Clearance Certificate, confirmation letter shall be issued to the student.
It may be noted that Students from Government/AICTE/University recognized institutes only
shall be considered for Project Work/Training and that SCL reserves the right to reject any
or all applications for Admission to the Programme for M.Sc./M.Tech or B.Tech/ B.E.
Students or close/discontinue the Programme without assigning any reasons.
Identity Card: All students shall be issued Identity Card during the period of the training at SCL. In
Case, the student loses his /her Identity Card, the Duplicate Card shall be issued only after Police
complaint is lodged and requisite fee of Rs.100.00 is paid by the student.
Compliance to Safety, Security and Disciplinary Regulations of SCL: Every student registered
for Project Work/ Training Programme at SCL is required to sign Undertaking of Compliance with
the Safety, Security and Discipline regulations while at SCL.
Project Training Procedure: Project Work/ Training Programme at SCL are based on Mentor-
Student relationship whereby SCL Mentor allocates the project, guides the student/s and may give
assignments to complete the project work. Student shall be required to deposit one copy of the
Project Report with the Mentor and one with SCL Training Development Cell.
Issue of Certificates: On completion of the Project Work / Training, the Mentor shall organize a
formal review of the work done by the student and forward the Student Performance Report to SCL
Training Development Cell recommending their issuance / denial of Completion Certificate to the
student. Training Development Cell based on Mentor’s report shall issue the Certificate only after
receiving back the Identity Card issued to the Student as well settlement of any other dues by the
student. Certificate shall not be issued directly to the Students by Mentors
